Going Natural On Your Wedding Day

Some girls dream of their wedding day their entire lives. They picture their dress, their hair, the flowers, the dream partner, everything. And American society encourages little girls to plan huge, budget-busting weddings. As a former beauty pro, I have worked on hundreds of brides, and no matter how much planning went into their wedding before the actual big day, a significant percentage of them had no idea what to do about their makeup.

The brides who were already into makeup, had makeup artist’s tested out and booked months in advance, but often most brides had no clue what to do with their makeup for their wedding day. I recently read this article about the ever-growing trend of next-to-no makeup wedding makeup. And it’s about time this became a trend!

The most important thing you can do on your wedding day, when it comes to your physical appearance, is be the best version of yourself. If you personally love to beat your face, then wear a full set of lashes and contour to the gods on your wedding day. But, if you are far more comfortable looking how you normally look, then do what Meghan Markle, er I mean Duchess of Sussex did for her wedding day and show up at the altar looking like you.

At the end of the day, its all about what makes you feel comfortable. If you are thinking about embracing the little-to-no makeup trend on your wedding day, I suggest you ramp up your skin care routine in the weeks leading up to the big day. Make sure to do weekly (or bi-weekly) skin care treatments, wash your makeup off every night, and make sure you are moisturizing your skin both in the morning and before bed. Also make sure to embrace a healthy eating habit (veganism cleared up my skin, big time) and drink a lot of water.
